I have being blogging for more than two years now but I have being actively doing it only for the last 6 months or so. During that time I found some very interesting blogs mainly through Entrecard and different blog contests.I see very few Sri Lankans using Entrecard, which is strange considering the potential traffic it can bring. When it comes to reading Sri Lankan blogs there are only two places I can think of , Kottu and SlBlogs.org. Before I say anything about bloggers I guess as a blogger I owe a very big thank you to both Indi and Nirosh.
During the last 6 months I've met many Sri Lankan Blogger all with their unique style of writing.Cerno blogs about mostly about google earth but always find time to write some engaging content in between.Me & me Blog has a very sarcastic view of things which I thoroughly enjoy reading. Mind Blogger comes up with excellent posts about making money online , groundviews blogs about the current situation in Sri Lanka and there are many other blogs I read through Kottu which I fail to mention. But among them all my favorite Sri Lankan blogger is Mia at whisperings
.
Well as most Sri Lankan blogs I found this thorough Kottu , Matchmaker , Matchmaker find her a match is the post that led me to it. This is still one of my favorite reads.Well this isn't a blog that delivers ground breaking news or anything like that , and the blogger is such a slacker that it isn't even frequently updated , but when she comes up with a post it sure makes a good read. I was a bit worried about missing a post , so I nagged her to add a RSS feed so I can keep track of it easily. Actually RSS is the best way to keep track of any blog , let alone a one that doesn't get updated frequently. The blog posts are very engaging so you are inclined to add an comment and join the conversation. Actually its a good example of how to write engaging content. If you have being browsing the web long enough I'm sure you have come up with many personnel blogs where the talk about what they did this day and that , although this blog is pretty similar there's something about the writing style that makes this stand out , I read nearly 100 blogs through my reader, and for me to subscribe to a personnel blog through my reader it definitely have something special. So why don't you go there and check the blog yourself
.
Do you have a favorite Sri Lankan Blogger ? Why don't you write about the blogger and win some prices in the process, courtesy of SlBlogs.org. And finally if you are still not syndicated at Slblogs now is good time to add your feed. Any traffic is good traffic right ?

Thank you for the mention and the link back in your post
I’ve added you to my blog roll
A point about Entrecard – you can’t use Entrecard on free blog within wordpress.com. I think the same might apply for blogger. Getting a decent hosted blog costs $$$ in hard currency for SL bloggers. Plus it means a time commitment other than a hobby.
For those moving to the next level though it sounds like a good deal. Wouldn’t have heard about it if it wasn’t for your post.
The thing with free wordpress.com hosted blogs is they don’t allow java scripts. Many advertising methods require java scripts so wordpress.com blogs have very few options of advertising thus earning opportunities. The best I can think of for wordpress users is paid reviews. Blogger allows java scripts so you can add Entrecard widget in blogger blogs. Btw I don’t think I see you in SlBlogs , you should give it a try , brings me some good traffic
Yes I came across the wordpress.com javascript thing a while back
but so far its not been a big issue. Wordress.com does provide some decent analytics for a free blog. Oddly enough I’ve been getting more hits from google searches and wordpress category tags than kottu.
Thank you for the SLblogs reference. I signed up on it today
Hi Cerno,
.
then yours must be a old blog with a good PR and optimized for some juicy key words
Thanks for the mention mate. Appreciate it.
Oi,oi, oi who did you call a slacker? Ok granted I have become slack so much so I only saw this post today
Guess what my dear Nishadha, in amongst all your accolades which I accept with heartfelt gratitude I came online to write my last post and say goodbye to blogging. But before writing clicked on your link to see what you have been upto. I kept going because you and a few others have said how much they enjoy reading my blog but in all honestly as hard as it is to stop when I read accolades such as yours I have come to my tether. I really am sorry but rather than write muck (which I am sure you have seen some bloggers with personal blogs do) it’s good to go on a high, don’t you think?
But I will visit from time to time.
Take care and all the best for your future!
