Signing up for an Adsense account doesn't guarantee you will make any money off it , you need to tweak your colors and placement of the ads to get the maximum result. After experimenting with Adsense and PHP I finally managed to add them just the place I want , actually its very simple to do once you get to know the method.The placement of your Adsense block can be manipulated using the "<div>" tag. Although I'm talking about Adsense placement the "<div>" tag can be used to place images and etc too.
Leader Board ,Well this is the Adsense block that gives the most clicks. You should use a 728x90 leader board Adsense unit for this. Placing it just under the header is how I done it and it yields good results as well. If your using a wordpress template the best place would be just after the get_header() function. If your using a blogger template add it as the first thing in the "<body>" section.
Then you will get a nice looking Adsense block as in this blog.Another good place the Adsense block is just above the title or in some cases just after the title before the content. If your using a Wordpress template the best place is just above the the_title() function in single.php . This could change according to the theme so try it out and see for your self. The same "align=center" can be used for this. Of course you have to choose a 468x60 banner for this.
If your using blogger this can be done with a few simple mouse clicks. Go to the Layout tab and in it go to the page element tab. Click the Add Page Element link at the very bottom. When the window pops with different elements choose the HTML/JavaScript element. This will open up a another window where you can pasts your Adsense code. Pasts the code and save. Now drag the added element to the blog posts section and place it in the top.
Click on the images to view a large image.
But what if you want to add the ad block inside the post like below , where the user is most likely to see it.
Just add the following code in the post content in your single.php file.
Use this tips to add your ad blocks in the relevant places and watch your Adsense earnings grow.

when setting up a new ad block , when you press continue after setting up the ad format and the colors you are taken to the page where you can set up a channel , if you have not created one yet you can click the link “Add new channel” and proceed. Check out add Adsense channels for more information

@Michael,
When you are creating your Adsense block , during the process there is a place where you can specify a channel for that Adsense block. You might consider reading this , http://rumblinglankan.com/are-you-losing-money-with-adsense/ , if you are still unsure feel free to ask
Hello Nishadha thanks very much for your reply. I for some reason thought that when you create an Adsense channel the numbers you get from Google you must place in the Page source of your index.html site.
What that be correct assumption?
thanks for your assistance
Kind regards
Michael.
@Michael,
There are many ways to use channels , you can use channels to track a specific ad block ( custom channel ) or a performance of a specific domain ( url channels ). As far as I know you don’t need to update the index file after you create a channel.Channel section in Adsense help might provide you with some answers https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/topic.py?topic=152
