Get traffic and backlinks through blog carnivals

Posted 22nd June 2008 | View Comments

I recently joined blog carnival and already seeing results from my first submission to the different carnivals. Blog carnivals are a great way to get some exposure to your blog posts and also a great way to get some back links.

What is a blog carnival ?

Basically its a blog post with links to many other posts.A short description is given with the links for the benefit of the readers.Great thing about them is more often than not the carnival is about a targeted topic.Readers benefit from them because they can find great articles in one place about a relevant topic.Blogger benefit from them because they get some good exposure and back links.Check out this blog carnival at blog me the money to get a better idea.First to comment in the post saying which of my article is featured there wins 300 EC :) .

Benefits for Bloggers

  • Free back links from blogs related to your niche and since a short description is attached with the link it can do wonders for your search engine rankings
  • Increase in traffic to your blogs - the amount of traffic you get varies on factors like the number of readers of the blog that hosts the carnival , the placement of your link in the blog carnival , the description given before the link etc
  • Targeted visitors becoming long term readers - since the carnival focuses on a specific topic you are mostly getting targeted visitors who might drop by your blog and become long term readers

Benefit for readers

  • Biggest benefit for readers is that you get some great articles in one single location.Bloggers who submit to blog carnivals usually submits there best articles and since the carnival host hand picks the articles to be published you usually get a great list of related articles.

My Carnival

Since I liked the idea I'm having a carnival of my own.I'm hoping to feature this once every two weeks. Only five quality articles will be published so the readers will get the benefits without getting lost in the clutter. If you think you have a great article related to improving the quality of your blog you can submit them by visiting Carnival of blog improvement or you can use the contact form and send them directly to me. It could be about how to improve load time , blogger or Wordpress hacks or anything that is related to improving the quality of your blog.Feel free to comment about what you thing of blog carnivals.

I for one learnt a lot from this article. It seems as if Blog Carnival is worth investigating. I have a couple of articles that definitely fall within the scope of your own carnival. I will be submitting a couple soon. Thanks for the heads-up.

Blog carnivals work pretty well in some cases. The smaller carnivals are easier to get your article accepted, but don’t give as much traffic. The way to go is to submit to several carnivals, big and small. That way even if you don’t hit it big you will still gain some exposure.

Honestly, this is my first time to hear about this blog carnival thingy. Good that i stumbled upon this post at livewirenews. Congratulations for having your own carnival. As of now, i am dropping cards and i will be getting back to this post and be able to digest it fully.

By the way, do you find livewire news helpful? I made a post about the site and I do hope you can share your opinions about it as well.

Any website that brings in good traffic is good , but you have to be careful of Google as well. If you are submitting to sites like Digg you have to get considerable diggs for Google to follow which I think is logical. I have submitted to livewire but haven’t analyzed back links and traffic details yet since I started using it very recently.

[...] Blog Branding, Blog carnival, Blogging, Blogging Tips, Free Traffic, Make Money Online, Miscellaneous, Reviews, SLIIT, TechStuff and Uncategorized are the categories that you will find on Rumbling Lankan. Each of these categories contains a number of interesting articles. But, I found it strange that during first three months, the blogger wrote only three posts. Anyway the blog is now updated regularly and mostly covers blogging and SEO tips and traffic generation strategies. Under the ‘Blog Branding’ category I found some good posts like “Get traffic and backlinks through blog carnivals“. [...]
