Entrecard overhaul

Yesterday got a mail from Entrecard team saying that they are cleaning out splogs and quick drop pages.I think this move was initiated because of the comments in the firestrom forum because there many of the splogs were exposed and brought forward. This is a good move by Graham and the team because the original purpose of Entrecard was to visit other blogs and read there posts.I don't think this move will effect many since I don't think there are many droppers like that.

The only concerning part in the mail was "members dropping on quick drop pages may start receiving stiff credit penalties for every drop they do on quick drop pages, as it is not a visit to a blog and thus an illegal drop". I always reciprocate my drops and I do come across quick drop pages. Its easy to identify a quick drop page with only the entrecard widget but what about cards that points to a single page in the blog ? I have come across cards like that and this is where I'm confused. Do they come across as illegal drops as well. So I think best thing is clean up the quick drop pages and stop penalizing people that drop back.

  • I'm a huge fan of entrecard and strangely enough have never come across a lone widget sitting anywhere. I'm not a power dropper by a long shot, like my business, I like to go more one on one with people. Discovering new blogs, gathering more information, and (hopefully) establishing working relationships requires slowing down and taking your time.

    I believe the people "power dropping" are totally missing the boat when it comes to any type of marketing and/or advertising. You've got to stand out from the crowd! And socialize :)
  • Actually it is simply fair I as I see it. The reason i joined is for extra traffic which I actually get, even though I get only half of what I drop. But I excuse it ince I am not too old at Entrecard and not all are benefits but also a hard work and perseverance is a must.
