This is probably the easiest way to get Twitter followers by location because it’s matter of setting it up and letting the software do the rest. I currently use TweetAdder for my location based clients. Once you download and install the software you need to add a Twitter user and connect the accounts. Then select that account and click open user and in the screen that appear click “Location Search“. You should see a screen similar to the one below.
Click on the location field and you’ll be promoted with a screen like the one below and there you can search and add a location. I have added New York and search for location data.
Once you add the location click the “Search Now” button. Then you’ll get a list of users in that location who has mentioned your keyword. Once you get the list you have the option of following them, mark them as follow later or to discard them with leaving TweetAdder.
Marking users as follow later is extremely useful if the search results have many users. The tweet that triggered the search is shown so you can later view and decide whether you really want to follow this user. There’s lot more you can do with it so check out my Tweet Adder review for the full list of functions.
Definitely one of the best ways to find Twitter follower by city, state or country. Also as you can see in the first image you can use it to increase Twitter followers by many other search criteria. So why don’t you check out TweetAdder >>
Twitter directories are another great way to find followers by location. Don’t waste your time spending time on too many directories. Instead focus on one or two very popular directories. Mashable has a good list of Twitter directories where you can find Twitter followers based on various parameters. But to find location based Twitter followers by favorite directory is Twellow.
You need to register for an account and after registering you’re presented with a simple interface with a search box at the top. There you can enter city, state or country and the service will list down the users who meets your search criteria. You can directly start following them using the follow button beside the search result.
It also shows whether someone is already following you and also if you’re following them so you can make an informed decision. The process takes a while compared to using software but it is free.
Another drawback is it only shows user who have set their location to your preferred state, city or country. By default Twitter asks for the country but adding the city and state is optional. So number of results will be limited.
