Its being a month since I moved to my own domain name and one big reason for moving to the new domain was I thought I could cover my hosting expenses using AdSense. If you don't know what AdSense is its an advertiser program run by google where they pay you to show relevant text ads in your blog and pays you when readers click on them. You can see them just below the posts in this blog. For a whole year of web hosting I paid 10$ , that was a cool deal I got from bluefur.com web hosting. So my goal was to cover that using Adsense and I'm happy to say that I seem to be making good progress. This month there were 17 clicks and I made a total of 3.6$. Blogs Alexa rank also went up and for some key words the blog came in the first page in google search results so I'm hoping my clicks will rise during the year. Even if the rate stays the same I will be making like 43$ through out the year which more than covers the expenses of hosting. So all you bloggers out there if you want to make some money while blogging I suggest you sign up for AdSense. For users of blogger platform implementing it is very easy since blogger has some widgets for AdSense. For wordpress users also there are plenty of plugins available which you can use to implement AdSense. People who have already implemented adsense I would like to know how much you guys are making off AdSense so I can get an idea about how much your making while blogging.

Hey bro, Glad another SL is into making money online. I’m also using Adsense and making some money. But you are better than me. When I began in June last year I made only 2 dollars in the first 3 months. But since then I’ve integrated the ads into the post and increased my traffic so now it has increase a lot. (last month 30$)
Hey btw, did you get that bluefur deal from John Chows? you’re lucky inwane, I missed it
There regular place is 16 or so a month!!!
I’m thinking about buying making some niche sites with my adsense money at bluehost which I hear is the best and most reliable but still 6$ a month! If anyone knows a better and cheaper place please let me know.
I have a blog that runs on blogger. I also want to implement Adsense.I’m not that much into technology so can you describe the process.
Hey Dilan , if your using blogger its very easy , I will add a post about how to do in both blogger and wordpress platforms, in one of the future posts.
I don’t have AdSense on my blog. The reason is that when you depend on the blog for money, then you start to write stuff that will get you more hits and thereby more money. I am not a “purist” telling you what you do is wrong. Far from it. If you can make money, then you should. But, be careful that you don’t fall into the trap of thinking “if i write something controversial, then more and more people will come to my blog, and I will get more money.”
On the other hand, good luck.
Suchetha
Hey Guys,
Do not discuss real numbers about adsense earnings. It could be grounds for terminating adsense account. Hope you guys will make some money. My figures for last year was in six digits, enough to retire to SL and live happily. (if there are no war!)
Mohomed I got this deal from bluefur , it was a special seasonal promotion. Other than special deals like that 6$ pkg from bluehost seems very attractive. and sol thanks for the tip I’ll try not to disclose details about my adsense clicks and etc in the future posts.
yeah Rion thanks. And nice to hear you made that much.
Suchetha,
What you say is true, but then I wont be hear to comment. the little I earn from blogging goes for the Sri Lanka telecom. Its so expensive here. 10$ the cheepest net connection avaible. I wish net rates will go down.
Thanks admin, I also made a mistake, it is 5 digit income, not 6 as stated. Sorry about the goofup.
I dont agree with what suchetha said , For a blog to be succesful you need readers and you want have many readers if you fill it with ads and don’t have enough content. On the other hand if you have quality content readers will come if there are ads or not. With less than 4$ a month I doubt the admin depends on this blog for money
I do have a permanent job and as Thiwanka said I don’t depend on this blog for money. But as Mohomed pointed out things are not cheap and I don’t mind getting a few dollars for doing nothing but posting
Diane,
I’m currently using Bluefur and they also have excellent support. I’m looking to build multiple sites and at the moment I’m looking for multiple web site hosting from one account.Definitely will look into Host gator , thanks for the recommendation.
bluefur’s $14.95/Mounth is costly.It Ithink Hostigator is better…
Hi Nishada, I also think AdSense is a good way of getting some money into the bank. I have 1 website and 2 blogs, and combined between the three I am making about $30 a month right now. But I have to say that the worst AdSense performing blog is the blog about making money. To me it seems that in that particular niche people who read the blogs usually know about AdSense and seem to ignore it on other blogs.
I am testing at the moment how well the link units perform compared to the Text ads, but I can’t really say yet.
The main thing you have to do is drive traffic to your site. The more traffic, the more clicks. And make sure you have your AdSense ads in a spot where they will be converting well into clicks.
You have done very well on your blog, Nishada! I think your AdSense ads are perfectly placed.
@Petra,
Traffic is the key , but more importantly it should be search engine traffic. If you are getting most of your traffic from social media sites like Digg then you want get much clicks from your visitors. And as you have mentioned sites that talk about making money tend to get low clicks because users are more aware of the ads.
As for my testing Adsense block inside the post is the one that performs well for this blog.

how about the adsense in my account bro? can u tell me some tips about ad posting??
my blog is : http://cwgcorruption.blogspot.com

It is alright, but you might want to change to colors of the ad so they will look more natural
