Simply put bounce rate is the percentage of single page visits. For example if 100 visitors visited your blog and 78 left your site without viewing any other page in your site your bounce rate is 78%. Because of there nature blogs tend to have a high bounce rate but from a simple tweak that can be done in less than two minutes you can reduce your bounce rate considerably. All you have to do is make your links look like links :) . Its a well known fact that most Internet users associate color blue and an underline with an link. All you have to do is open your style sheet and change the link color to blue and the text effect to underline and you will see a reduction in your bounce rate. This is a simple thing that is overlooked by many blogger's. Get any book related to Adsense and most of them advice you to show your links in blue color. Take an Amazon widget and they show there links in blue ,so there must be a reason top companies show there links in blue and the reason is people click on blue colored underlined links. This will take less than two minutes to do and you can compare your results and see the difference for yourself. Below are some more techniques that are proven to reduce your bounce rate.

  • Link to your old posts in your current posts
  • Show related posts , there are plenty of plug-in that do this
  • Show popular posts , this is the section most new visitors look for
The simple tweak mentioned and the things mentioned in the list helped me reduce my blogs bounce rate. If you know any other technique please share in the comments section.
