How to get back links and traffic from articles

Posted 29th January 2009 | View Comments

Article directories are a good way to get back links and traffic to your sites. Most article directories provide you with a resource box at the end where you can add few links back to your site or blog and what most people do is write a quality article and add a resource box mentioning there blog.If you add your resource box like that at the end of the paragraph, chances of people clicking on it and coming to your blog is pretty slim , if you have published few articles on article directories you are bound to know this. Another problem with this method is, scrapers who hunt for articles just ignore the resource box and publish your article. More than the traffic that is the thing that annoyed me the most. After some thought I came up with a pretty nifty way of avoiding that problem. First below is how a typical resource box looks like.

What I did was to make the resource box a part of the article. Most article directories specify a minimum number of words for an article. For Ezine its 250 words. If you write an article that is around 300-350 words you have plenty of words to add in the resource box section where you can add links. The trick is to make the resource box a part of an the article. For example if you are explaining something which has three points you can explain two points in the article and one point inside the resource box. All this is not going to work if you haven't written an interesting article. More interesting and useful the article more clicks your gonna get :) . Hope you find this tip useful and if you have any more tips and tricks about submitting article feel free to share in the comments section.

  • good advice
  • @MoneyOnline,
yep , if you are looking to build back links through articles e-zine is the best :)
  • I like ezinearticles the best. They rank well with google. I don't expect to get huge traffic with them but some...as well as taking a top position for those keywords and creating a link back to my site for those same keywords.
  • I have had decent traffic from my articles on Ezine. In fact I have seen a few of my articles re-published (complete with my links) on other websites and blogs!
  • thank you
  • @Justin,
yep adding a link is the most important thing , but adding the link which looks like part of the article gets you more clicks :)
  • Good tips. There are various article directories out there and it is better if you submit your articles to top directories. Make sure to add a link to your site, this is the prime most important thing ;)
  • @Eranda,
I have only used Ezine so cant comment much about the others. Affsphere also seems good and they allow links in the body. Also Affsphere allows submitting articles that are already submitted to other article directories. So if you have some articles ready then Affsphere is good alternative.
  • Do you recommend getting involved with all available article directories or just the few big ones like ezine articles? I have tried this when I first started and I have had some visitors..but I never continued publishing them. Should seriously consider article marketing.
