As your Twitter following starts to grow it becomes extremely important to efficiently manage your Twitter account. You can use different software to build and manage your Twitter followers , but they will cost you money and even then there are some things software cant decide. Fortunately there are Twitter services out there that lets you manage your Twitter followers. Twitter is a very popular service and there are many tools out there and many are coming out everyday. So lets take a look at few tools I use regularly to effectively manage my Twitter accounts.

TweetLater

Tweetlater is one of the best free tools out there that helps you automate many actions that you can do with your twitter account. Upgrading to a professional account gives you tons of more features but the free account has plenty to keep you interested. Lets take a look at few options that helps you manage your Twitter account.

• Scheduled Tweets - There may be a time where you want be able to log in to your Twitter account for a while. Now you don't have to worry not able to tweet at a specific time , with Tweetlater you can automate and set up a tweet to go live at the time you specify. This is helpful when your promoting an affiliate product as well , now you can write you message and set it up so it will go live once every 3 hours , 6 hours and so on.
• Automated Direct Messages - Every time someone starts following you , you can send a direct message welcoming him. Its advisable not to send affiliate links etc , in fact its better not to send any link at all
• Click tracking with bit.ly - You need a bit.ly account to do this , and using this you can track the performance of the clicks you are getting , very handy tool to track the performance of your affiliate links
• Automatically follow those who follow you - When someone follows you can set up your account to automatically follow him , saves you plenty of time if you have a follow every follower policy. You can even add them to a queue so you have to approve to follow them back.
• Unfollow people that unfollow you - There are marketers out there who mass follow people and mass unfollow them in few days to stack up there numbers. Well with this handy tool you can unfollow them as soon as this happens.
• There are many other features like unlimited Twitter account support , your own personal status feed , keyword tracking , Direct message clean up etc. And the professional accounts have a ton of more features.

Although many have heard about Tweetlater not many are taking full advantage of the service. As you can see even the free account gives you lots of features , play around with the service and get a good idea of all the features.

Twitter karma

Twitter Karma is a handy service that I recommend you run at least once a month. What id does is take your twitter user name and password and the gives a detail list of your followers. This is especially useful if you are using an automated tool to build your followers. You can get stop following people who have never update there twitter account , or who haven't updated there twitter account for months. You can easily visualize people who you are only following and haven't reciprocate the follow and lots of other details. It is a free service that gives you a whole lot of information in a easy to visualize way. I highly recommend you run it around once a month and clean up your Twitter account.
