Blogging Frequency Experiment

Time to reveal the details of another experiment , In the first two months of this blog I tried hard to build back links so I can get a good Page Rank in the last Page Rank update.I succeeded in doing that and got a PR of 3.Having a good PR has its benefits like increased prize of reviews and ad space , but they are not worth much if you don't have readers.Getting readers to your blog is one of the most hardest things to do especially when you are starting up.Thats why we see so many contest at the launch of new sites, because contests attract readers.

Well contests are good if you have the cash to throw around , but what if you don't have the cash ? Well one thing I tried is posting frequently. For the last two to three weeks I tried to put up at least one post a day.Well there are days that I missed but in the last 21 days I put up 17 posts and the results were pretty amazing. In the first two months hardly anyone subscribed to my blog , but in the last three weeks I had more than 20 subscribers , I know its not much but its a start.

The no of comments increased and I had bloggers and advertisers contacting me directly for sponsorships and product reviews. Some of them could be because of my PR but most of those offers were surely because of my posting frequency. When browsing through Entrecard I find many blogs that have a few quickly done posts and nothing else. Those are the slackers who read JohoChow once and think they can make some quick bucks with blogging and quit when they make nothing much in the first month or so.Thats why many get paid to post sites only admits websites that are more than 3 months old.I guess the first month will be the hardest , I think I made around 7$ in the first month, You can hardly call that an earning.Well last month I passed 100$ and the way things are going I think I will pass that mark this month :) .

Now that I found out blogging frequently actually works, its time to setup a time table to keep up with the frequency , how frequently do you blog ? And if you are a frequent blogger do you blog according to a time table , I would love to hear your ideas about this.

PHP Update - Well I got rid of my own comments showing in the recent comments section , but its more to do with MySql than PHP :( .

  • This is something I have been wondering about a lot lately. It seems that everyone has their pet posting patterns that they back up with hot air and no real stats.
I usually post daily MON-THU and sometimes on the other days, but I have found that my traffic is lower on the weekends and I get less comments. When Monday comes around I start getting comments on the posts I wrote over the weekend.
  • Yep rumbling it is very true, I have a habit of blogging or reading blogs early morning. Usually I'm following a routine of reading interesting blogs from 6-7 am.. Kicks me with new ideas and keeps the day very interesting...

You seem like someone with a very active mind. You will go far in life. Good luck
  • Completely agree with you! My minimum posting frequency is 1 per day. And I try my level best to live up to it.
I've heard challenges such as as 30-day blogging challenge where people group up and write for 30 days each day. At the end, they end up getting some serious stats.
But I should say Nishadha, that it's more about keeping it consistent. There's no pointing posting 20 times a day if you're not going to post anything the next day.
    Cheers!
