Are you a nice blogger who cares about your visitors ? If so you should worry about how your blog or website looks in different browsers. Your blog that looks beautiful in your Firefox browser might not look so good in Internet Explorer or Opera. The Steps
- Make you blogs main page valid XHTML. Don’t let the technical words scare you, use this free tool to do the validation , http://validator.w3.org/ , if you pass this test you win the icare bronze award.
- Validate your style sheet , use this free tool ( http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/ ) to do the validation , pass this step and you win the icare silver award.
- After passing the above two steps your blog will be put thorough a color contrasting test and fixed font size test , you can do the test yourself using this free tool. ( CSS Checker ) , pass this test and you win the icare gold award.
Strip Your Blog
Since you know the tools its up to you to proceed. First thing I did was remove all my widgets from the theme. Make sure to get a rough sketch of the layout before you remove your widgets. The purpose is to validate your theme first and then validate your widgets one by one so you don’t have to validate all at once.
First step
Go to http://validator.w3.org/ and in the address field enter the url of your blog. If you pass this test without any problems you will get a result called “Passed Validation” and a badge to show off in your blog.And you can win the icare bronze award as well.
