With thousands of blogs producing countless blog posts every day you need to go that extra mile to make your post stand out , and videos play a vital part in doing that. According to many top bloggers videos are the next big thing that is going to hit the net , but however cool they look they do have a significant impact on the load time of your blog.
According to most surveys if your blog or website doesn’t load in 6-8 seconds you are going to lose 1/3 of your visitors, and you can imagine how many potential readers you are throwing away. Although technologies are emerging to make video downloading faster and more and more people are getting access to high speed internet ,the people who have slow internet connections still outnumber them significantly.
The trick is to identify your target audience , if you can see that most of them have access to high speed internet then it is safe to add videos to your blog. This blog gets most of visitors from US and Canada so I guess it is safe to upload videos in this blog , but for some of my other blogs traffic tends to vary and come from different regions.So I’m a bit skeptical about adding videos on those blogs.

I think video is good but as you said countries that have slow internet connection have problem. Well you can also geo target your visitors… Like if vifistor is from some country show video otherwise don’t show
