I first heard about Squidoo when doing the Thirty Day Challenge, a marketing course that teach you to make money online. It was recommended as a good source to get back links so I went there and started creating articles. And once I start spending time there I began to love the site. The interaction with others, getting purple stars, getting blessed by angels were all very exciting. But it all changed when they started banning lenses left and right without giving a proper reason.
I had an awesome lens about increasing Twitter followers which even ranked as the first result for the keyword “increase Twitter followers”. It was a well researched article covering most of the things you can do to increase followers. And all of a sudden is was unpublished mentioning that it has low quality links.
Now if they detect low quality links the least they could do is show those links so we don’t get confused spend time figuring out what’s the links that’s causing offense. HubPages does this and I don’t think that it’s such a hard task either. But instead all you get is a general warning which usually leaves you frustrated.
This is when unpublished you really can’t get any feedback about the lens as well. You can remove link one by one and see if it automatically removes the warning. A frustrating experience if you have lots of links in your lens. You can only dispute it if the lens get locked and you’re lucky to get a reply for such a request.
Now I simply don’t bother and that is just sad. I used to love Squidoo and now visiting the website itself is sort of depressing. I know this is a feeling shared by many who used to love Squidoo. Yesterday I got another lens locked. This is a lens that has gotten a purple star and which I haven’t modified for ages. Somehow the algorithm feels the outgoing links are not good enough. This time I wont be disputing it, instead I’ll be moving the content to a blog owned by myself.
Squidoo got so freaked out by Google algorithm changes that they stopped caring about their users. Which is a shame because I used to love the site. So after caring receiving one warning after another I just stopped caring. Are you a die hard Squidoo fan? Can you give me any reason to stay? I certainly cant give any reason to use the site anymore.
